India is rapidly emerging as a global hub for AI innovation and adoption, leveraging its vast talent pool, vibrant tech ecosystem, and thoughtful government initiatives. With AI applications transforming sectors like healthcare, agriculture, education, and governance, India is addressing unique challenges, such as language & cultural diversity, and resource constraints, through creative solutions.
As part of the Applied AI Association (AAIA), the India Chapter supports this momentum by promoting responsible, applied AI that delivers real-world impact. It serves as a platform to connect practitioners, foster collaboration, and advance ethical AI practices that align with the country’s diverse and dynamic needs. There is a dire need to bridge the digital divide between the front-runners and the uninitiated. AAIA, India, aspires to do its part in this segment.
Initiatives like the IndiaAI Mission and investments in AI research are paving the way for advancements that not only cater to local needs but also position India as a major contributor to global AI development. While challenges in infrastructure, data privacy and security, and private investment remain, India's focus on inclusive and use-case-driven AI adoption underscores its potential to lead the AI revolution, regionally and globally.

Anita Bhat-Zutshi, currently residing in New Delhi, is a distinguished finance leader with over 30 years of experience. She commenced her career at Hindustan Unilever in 1995 and broke new ground by becoming the first female VP Finance in HUL’s history in 2014. Anita has held key finance leadership roles across various regions and industries within Unilever, AstraZeneca, and private equity. Most recently, she served as the Global CFO for Unilever's €8.3 billion Ice Cream division based in the Netherlands.
Her leadership philosophy— "Igniting positive, impactful change through courage, curiosity, and service" —reflects her commitment to achieving exceptional business performance, driving substantial transformations, and nurturing talent development. Anita has been recognized with numerous awards for functional and operational excellence, including the WEQUAL award in 2021. Throughout her career, she has worked in India, the UK, UAE, and the Netherlands.
Anita is passionate about diversity and inclusion, and she remains keenly interested in the implications of artificial intelligence for the future. In her leisure time, she enjoys reading, watching TV series and movies, and traveling with family and friends.

She has Co-Founded a legal tech company, Ask Junior - where they build tools and provide services for workflow of court going lawyers.
Renu studied law at the Symbiosis Law School, Symbiosis International University, Pune, where she secured First Class with Distinction in 2007 and did her Master of Laws (LL.M) degree in International Business Law at the London School of Economics and Political Science, United Kingdom (LSE). -
